Figure 8.10 Look for RSS icons and the RSS badges for links to the RSS file. If you have the choice, as we do here, choose “RSS 2.0”—it is the more advanced of the newsfeed types. RSS is also behind the list of blog posts on the Library Blog snapshot, left. We take the RSS feed from the blog and process it so the links on the main library Web page appear dynamically. To find out how we did this, check out “RSS and Back Again” in appendix A.

I am interested in tracking several feeds associated with Goochland High School (www.glnd.k12.va.us/schools/ghs/). First, when I visit the high school’s front page, I notice the now-familiar icon for RSS, as well as a link to Subscribe to GHS News. Next, I visit the high school media center’s page and notice that the media specialist maintains a blog. While the most recent of the blog entries are listed on this page with links to each one, I would like to subscribe to everything she writes. Following one of the links takes me to her blog, where I find an RSS badge.
